Anonymous: My dad lived in Japan for 4 years and no one treated him poorly for not speaking Japanese. He told me they spent more time speaking English. One of my older sisters (who is half Japanese) was born over there and lived there for a while only speaks English.
neptunessaltybutthole: I lived in Japan for 13 months, I was grade 10 and I was in a cheer club. I'm fairly tall for Japan,169cm, quite pale at times, and have brown hair and blue eyes. So of course I stood out. When I was at school, I noticed a lot of people were incredibly hesitant to talk to me and stared a lot. On the trains, I had young boys use their flip phone cameras to take photos under my skirt. People assumed I couldn't eat Japanese food because I am white. Other than that, a lot of people are just curious.
