Japan Fact: Burakumin are a largely invisible (to outsiders, at least) group of Japanese whose ancestors performed work that brought them into contact with contamination of death (butchering, leather-working and disposing of corpses). While they are racially the same as Japanese, they have traditionally been treated like inferior people by most of the Japanese society.
